Our Story

Arthur Mallon’s was established in 1942 in Monaghan Town. Arthur came from a family of farmers, butchers and livestock exporters.

He traded successfully in the town for many years supplying the local community with top quality produce. It was during these years that Arthur developed the sausage recipe which is now famously known as ‘Mallon’s Sausages’.

The next generation, Paddy and Brendan worked in the family business in their younger years (and still do today). The business went from strength to strength and in the early 70’s a factory was constructed to produce and process the sausages.

Sadly, Arthur passed away in the late 80’s and Paddy and Brendan took over the family business.

In the early 90’s the butcher’s shop was refurbished and now served as a butcher, a delicatessen and a processing plant for the ready meals.

In the late 90’s the shop relocated to a bigger premises in Monaghan Shopping centre where it remains today. Meanwhile the sausage factory continued to grow and became a well-known name around the country.

Over the years we have specialised in ready meals from our deli, dry aged meats from our butchery and supply many top end retailers with our own fully cooked, breaded chicken products.

It is with great excitement that we are launching our new web shop with nationwide delivery meaning you can get a delivery from us no matter where you are in Ireland.

Brendan is a son of Arthur’s who took over the Butcher’s shop when Arthur sadly passed away. Brendan has developed and grown the direct to consumer business throughout the years and now runs the very successful ‘Arthur Mallon’s Foodhall’ butchery and delicatessen in Monaghan Shopping Centre.

Sarah is the third generation in this family business. Joining the company after a change from nursing she is no stranger to fast-paced environments and oversees the day to day administrative functions of the business.

Esther has been with Mallon’s for over twenty years. Her dedication, hard work and talent have played a major part in the quality and success of Mallon’s ready meals.
